About Tim RoperTim Roper was born in Shropshire and had an idyllic childhood immersed in an isolated farming community. He studied engineering at Brunel University and went on to run his own engineering business. Perhaps, as a result of his upbringing he has always had a great love of nature and of travel. Much of his inspiration for his sculpture comes from his regular travels to the Far East where he seeks insight for his work whilst climbing mountains and studying the martial arts. The vast majority of Tim?s work is in steel and stainless steel, his ability to work with these materials stems from his engineering background. He uses both ancient forging techniques together with modern tools and computer design technology. He has exhibited at the Malvern Garden show and the Shrewsbury Flower Show where his Pagoda sculpture set in his Chinese show garden won Gold. He has works in the UK and the USA.
