About Tim Roper

Tim Roper was born in Shropshire and had an idyllic childhood immersed in an isolated farming community. He studied engineering at Brunel University and went on to run his own engineering business. Perhaps, as a result of his upbringing he has always had a great love of nature and of travel. Much of his inspiration for his sculpture comes from his regular travels to the Far East where he seeks insight for his work whilst climbing mountains and studying the martial arts. The vast majority of Tim?s work is in steel and stainless steel, his ability to work with these materials stems from his engineering background. He uses both ancient forging techniques together with modern tools and computer design technology. He has exhibited at the Malvern Garden show and the Shrewsbury Flower Show where his Pagoda sculpture set in his Chinese show garden won Gold. He has works in the UK and the USA.

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame. The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful."

Customer comment on 'Standing female (nude Contemporary Wall statue/decoration/sculpture)' by William Ashley-Norman
This lovely sculpture has been arrived without any problem. Now it is sitting in my house. We will move it to our new place for public showcase when the whole decoration has finished.

I will keep you update with our project soon. Thanks for your big help, anyway. We are still evaluating the whole space to see if we need to purchase one or two Nikki Taylor`s sculptures as well.
